First walk the baby. Then remove the collar from it so that it does not catch on the net or the rods. Attract the attention of a puppy with a toy and give a command in an excited and joyful tone: "Home!" (you can come up with any other team). Using a toy, lure a puppy into a cage, for example, throw it into the far corner or stick your hand with the toy into the cage. When the puppy enters there, praise him with gentle words and give him the toy.
The same can be done using bone or dog biscuit. Throw a bone through the door to the back of the cage and allow the puppy to find it. Remember, the cell should cause him only positive emotions.
Classes for schooling the dog to the cage turn into a game. Spend it a couple of days and repeat the exercise 10-20 times a day. To begin, leave the door open.
Do not leave the dog in the cage immediately for a long time. When the puppy begins to boldly and cheerfully enter its "the lair"try to keep it there for short periods of time. If, while in a cage, the puppy behaves quietly and calmly, praise him. If he barks or whines, do not pay attention to him until he calms down. After that, be sure to praise. If the puppy does not fall silent for a long time, try to cover the cage with something (a blanket, blanket, etc.). Remember that at this stage, the whine and the barking do not indicate that the puppy does not like the cage – he is just fine with you, and he demands to take him to himself. But you should not follow him!
After the puppy starts to behave calmly for short periods of time (and this will happen sooner or later), increase the time of his stay in the cage. Do not forget from time to time to praise the baby when he behaves calmly. Increase the gap between praises. And be sure to walk the puppy when you let him out of the cage.
The same results can be achieved differently. After you close the cage door, stay next to the puppy and talk to him. If the puppy starts to whine, distract him. Give sniff your fingers. Stay close to the puppy until it is silent, and only after that open the cage door. Usually this exercise takes 5-10 minutes.
It will be good if during the lesson the puppy falls asleep. In this case, do not wake him up. When he wakes up himself, let him out, but do not praise, do not caress him and do not play with him and do not pay attention to him at all for a few minutes. Let him decide that he is loved much more when he is in a cage. Do not let the puppy out of the cage until he sits quietly for 30 seconds.
If you take the time during the day and learn the lesson described above with your dog, you will easily be left in a cage for the night. If you have not done so, put a cage next to your bed, tire your puppy with a game (this is very important!) And lure him into a cage. If the puppy is whimpering, put your palm on the cage or stick your fingers inside and talk to him gently and soothingly. Be patient one night, your happy future is worth it. Do not let the puppy out of the cage, do not be angry with him and do not cry.
As a rule, a tired two-month-old puppy can sleep for four hours. If he wakes up in the middle of the night and wakes you up, demanding to be released to empty your bowels and bladder, let him do it. Take or take the puppy to where he is allowed to recover.
If you want to take him outside, dress first, and then open the cage. After walking again put the puppy in a cage without any game, turn off the light and go to bed again. If he starts to whine again, stretch out your palm and talk to him gently.
Two or three nights are required for total habituation. After a week or two, try to leave the cell in another place in your apartment.
If the puppy has mastered the above exercises, it will be easy for you to teach him to remain in the cage when you leave home. When leaving the puppy alone, make sure that he first takes a good walk – to fatigue. So it will be easier for him to endure loneliness and motor restriction. Take off his collar and invite him into the cage. Avoid violence. Close the cage door, do not talk about anything with the puppy, but just go and that’s it. He may whine a little, but that’s not a big deal. If the noise is loud, warn your neighbors that this will not last long. Let’s hope they understand you.
For a start, do not go away for long. For the first time it is desirable to be absent one to two hours. If you are in a hopeless situation and must go to work, ask someone to feed and walk a puppy in your absence. If the cage is devoid of a slatted floor and pallet, the need for a walk increases. It will be very difficult to wean a puppy from getting dirty in a cage if he gets used to it.
If you are constant in your demand for the puppy to always remain in the cage when you leave the house or go to sleep, after a while you will find that he often goes there himself. This happens when the dog gets tired, she wants to be alone for a while or just to sleep. When the puppy itself goes into the cage, do not allow children to disturb him. But let the cage door always be open when you are at home.
It is believed that the time that a puppy can spend in a cage without a walk can be calculated by the formula:
Age in months 1 = number of hours.
For example, a 2-month-old puppy can sit in a cage for 3 hours.
